This year I'm training to ride in two LiveStrong events:
On Sunday, August 23, I'll participate in the Philadelphia LIVESTRONG Challenge, where I hope to raise $7,500 (with your help, of course!). I will ride 65 miles throughout the Philadephia area with about 3,000 other participants (Lance Armstrong will be on the Pro Circuit this year, so he won’t make this ride). I'll be a member of Team Fellowship, which was formed by Heather Jones. Unfortunatley, Heather will not make it this year; Cancer took her life in December of 2007.
And again on Saturday, September 26, I'll participate in the Columbia, MD 24 Hours of Booty, where I hope to raise $750 (with your help, of course. Here, I hope to ride as many miles as I can in 24 hours around Columbia’s “Gateway Business Park Loop,” a miles around the Austin area. This team was formed for Team Tammy's Tata's, my girlfriend, who recently finished her chemotherapy and is no undergoing radiation treatment for breast cancer. You can read more about Tammy's fight here.
For all of my challenges, I ride in thankfulness in particular for my father, a 10 year survivor, and for Tammy, who, while finished with Chemotherapy and Radiation, is still undergoing various treatments for pain, sleeplessness, and other side affects associated with the cure for this awful disease, and for all of those who have had Cancer touch their lives.
